What is the Tea Party? The Tea Party is not a political party. However it is an American populist political movement that is often recognized as conservative & libertarian. The name "Tea Party", obviously is a reference to the 1773 Boston Tea Party protest by American colonists who objected to English taxation and demonstrated by pitching British tea into the harbor. The Tea Party movement has no central leadership. It is simply made up of a loose affiliation of national & local groups that determine their own agendas.
The Central Minnesota Tea Party is made up of non-partisan independent thinkers working to restore our Republic. We are pro-family, pro-God, pro-American and pro-Constitution. One thing is certain. You won't see a Tea Party member desecrating the American flag or engaging in hooliganism.
Our core values are fiscal responsibility, limited federal government, personal responsibility, private property rights, free markets, and national sovereignty. We are opposed to the New World Order, social engineering in our schools, UN involvement in our government, and progressive, socialist, and entitlement legislation.
CMTP MISSION STATEMENT: “To restore our government to the principles of our founding fathers we shall endeavor to attract, educate and mobilize our citizens in support of our constitution, limited government, freedom of religious expression, and a free market system. These principles are justified by our God-given rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
